Sample size  and known or unknown Standard Deviation of Population factors determine the way  how the calculate  the z value or t value. Then we try to compare this calculated value  with hypothesized value so as to conclude if the Null hypothesis is to be rejected or accepted.

We deal with two types of population

  1. Infinite population
  2. Finite population

 Infinite Population

  1. Sample Size is greater than 30 ; Standard Deviation of Population is known
  2. Sample Size is greater than 30; Standard Deviation of Population is unknown
  3. Sample Size is less than 30; Standard Deviation of population is known
  4. Sample Size is less than 30; Standard Deviation of  population is Unknown

Finite Population

  1. Sample Size is greater than 30; Standard Deviation of Population is known
  2. Sample Size is greater than 30; Standard Deviation of Population is not known
